Default Pistol scope power

Im in the market for a pistol scope for my super redhawk .44 to attempt deer hunting with it next year. But, im not sure on what power to get, the 2x or 4x fixed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Danny

I have a TC with a 2X on my 45-70 barrel for brush and timber hunting and a 2.5X7 on a 223 barrel for sage rats and other varments. The 2x is much easier to use for getting on target quickly than the higher powers. For the distance you will be shooting the 2x should be fine.

I have a 4X on my 7X30 and wish it was a 2X.

I have a variable 1-4x Burris on my Cassul and I use it in the field at 2x, but at the rangs w/ bag @4x for getting a nice target for the wall.

If the option is one or the other...go 2x.

I have a 2X on my .480 Super Redhawk. Easier to pick up the target and not the crosshair wobble of a 4X.

I have a Leupold 2x scope on my T/C 22lr barrel and a Redfield 2-7 scope on my 35rem barrel....I leave it on 2x for all hunting, unless I'm target shooting.
2x is all you need. Only thing I would like is if my crosshairs where glow in the dark or something like that

I have scopes on several T-C Contender barrels...most 2X and one 3X for any Big Game size game out to say 150 yards. I do have a higher powered variable on a varmint barrel.

Pistol scopes, with their long eye relief are fairly difficult to use in a hurry...the crosshairs often get "lost" as does the picture, unless everything is "just right".

You might consider looking at a good Dot sight...something similar to what the competition "combat" shooters use on their pistols and revolvers. Those Dot sights have the advantage of being able to place the dot ANYWHERE on the screen and that's WHERE the bullet's going to hit! Also, you won't lose your field, as you often do when the scope's not perfectly aligned.

Just a thought...
