Default XM radio users? Specifically...the Roady XT unit?

I think Santa may be bringing me this...or at least a gift card to get satellite radio.

How does it work if I want to use the unit in my car, then at home, and also on my desk at work? What would I need? The unit would come with a car kit, so that's done....but what about the others? Probably need the home kit (another $50, ouch) for the home stereo....but do I really need that for work? Ideally I'd have something small on my desk that I could either connect to, or better yet, do the FM modulator thing to the basic *** radio on my desk and listen with headphones.

Anyone have any of this stuff? Am I missing anything that would make this all a lot easier?

My Sirius system is allready installed. But I saw Costco had both XM & Sirius packages that included both car and home adapters. The XM system used the old tape deck adapter for the car, and I believe had an RCA Audio output that you could connect to your home system with. The sirius system used the FM modulater in the car, and had the audio jacks for home. Both had seperate antennas for home and in the car. I believe the XM system was $109 & Sirius was $119 not including membership.

I'm sure you'll enjoy either system.

The new XM systems will do both tape and FM broadcast. My wife's XM system is in the house and it also works in the cars. Does just fine. The receiver is like $20 while the adaptors are around $40 each. Go with the Costco system if it has both. I just bought her a system for her CRV and need to put it in so she doesn't have to take the house unit back and forth.

Check out the Sirius S50. Like the song playing?? Save it on the receiver and take it with you as its also a portable MP3 player. It also has characteristics like a TIVO. You can record programing and listen to it later. I believe you can pause/rewind also like TIVO. Pretty cool!

I bought one for myself for x-mas!

Dang you!

I don't need to read this. They are too expensive and I don't need to pay that much every month after I pay that much for a box to listen to that stuff. (repeat, repeat, repeat) and I don't have my autopilot yet... and... and... and...

I can't stop looking at this thing though. Where did you find one? They are sold out everywhere and ebay sales are making a killing!

50 hours of music.... live scores of your favorite teams.... warnings that your team is going to play so you can tune in and not miss a play... so many choices if what to listen to...

If I had not been exposed to satalite radio on my trip up the inside passage I would not even consider it...

where did you find one in stock?

I was at a local Best Buy and they were sold out. He checked the inventory for the State and the Springfield store had 2 left. Luckily My In Laws live down there so I immediately sent them over to get one. Cant wait to hook it up!

Problem is I've done the 3 day trials about 4 times now for both Sirius and XM (listening to XM right now)...and XM, in my opinion, has better or more consistent music.

Funny how people are...I have both XM and Sirius (Sirius through Dish Network and XM on my boat) and really prefer the programming on Sirius. 80's hair bands/First Wave/smooth Jazz...just seems easier to me to get what I want.

Sirius has the NFL, the NHL, and the NBA. That put me over the top. I bought, rather Santa acquired, the package at Costco that includes the home and car kit.
