Default To Shaggie or not to Shaggie

That is the question. (Sorry Mr. Shakespeare) LOL!

I just reveived my jacket length Shaggie from Rancho Safari and is fits and looks GREAT. However, it sure seems to cut down my perpheral vision. (I think it needs a serious haircut.) Also, I have to leave my calls and binos exposed, and listen to them rattle, while walking into a stand because it is a major hassle to unzip and re-zip my Shaggie once I am seated.

But...is it worth it? I am looking for opinions from Shaggie users as to whether or not they believe it makes a significant difference. (I had lots of yotes come to my calling yesterday, but conditions were perfect, so yesterday was not really a fair trial.)

I sure would appreciate a few comments from Ifish hunters as the jury it still out in my opinion.

with a shaggy you can set up right out in the middle of a big flat, where you can see everything. so a little loss of side vision is not critical.put a shorter lanyard on your call, no more rattling on the binoculars.

Basically, a shaggie (ghillie) is a pain in the neck. They hook on brush as you're walking in, they make it hard to pull your rifle up into position, they are hard to see out of, etc, etc. Their redeeming feature is that they make you INVISIBLE.

Baltz is right. You just become a nondescript lump of nothing out there. Fence rows with open fields on either side? No problem. Open grasslands out in the sage? So what? You're not a human sticking up out there, you're a pile of limbs and twigs.

I don't always wear my ghillie, but I almost always have it along.
