Default New Kent Fast steel 1625

I saw this stuff in BiMart a few weeks back. I was thinking of giving it a shot. Wondering if anybody has used it yet.

Kent 3 1/2" 1 1/4 oz. #2 or BB 1625 fps

Will 75 fps help much?

I was wondering the same thing. If Federal came out with it I would definetly buy it, I don't shoot Kent though. Maybe i will try a box, 1625 is fast.

I tried it a couple of weeks ago, did not bring my kill ratio up for ducks, I was using #3's though.

I have talked with people that have used it for geese. Coupled with a patternmaster choke it peformed well for them.

I usualy stay away from the Kents becuase they dont pattern as well as some of the other brands in my gun/choke combo. Its not a bad pattern just not as good.

Personaly getting the pellets in a pattern isnt my problem, getting the bird in the pattern is though. So far this year I am averaging 1 duck per 3 shells. :depressed:

1 duck for 3 shells is not so bad.

Lots of times we'll knock the bird down on the 1st shot, and it may take 2 more to stop it in the water so the dog doesn't have to swim after it forever.

Especially true with Scoters. They are armor plated.

I used 3 1/2 #2 1625fps they work great. But you need to practice they are fast. What I did was went trap shooting and loaded some trap loades that are around 1600-1650fps
1 1/8 # 6 lead powder was LONGSHOT and they are fast from 27 yards you do not need to lead the bird. With the fast steel they are fast but lose there speed quickly I find that I do not need to lead birds by much at all when pass shooting and never with there feet down. You need to find the right gun ammo and gear that fits you and stay with it good luck.
