A 15 Marlin Day In Cabo! [Edit W/Pics]
Just returned from Cabo late last night...still blurry eyed. I'll elaborate more later with pics, but for now....
We hooked up 15 Marlin, caught and released 13!
We were fishing 60 miles out of Cabo at the Finger Banks.
Edit:
My wife Julie (Julie Rose), my brother Rodger (The Big Kahuna), his wife Deborah, and I arrived in Cabo on 12/03/05 to have some fun…….and catch a marlin or two.
We went down to the docks to decide on an available boat/captain. We hooked up with Captain David & son Julian on the Tail Chaser, a boat and Captain we’d gone out with before, for Dorado. It's a 32 foot Blackfin.
After discussing the options, we decided to pay more for a trip to the infamous “Finger Banks” for Striped Marlin. Deal set, we returned to the condo to start our LOOOONG wait till Thursday! (And had a drink or two).
The DAY starts at 4:20 AM. Everyone gets ready, and we catch a Taxi at 5:30. We’re at the boat, and on our way by 6:00.
It’s a 3 hour trip to the Banks, stopping on the way to quickly jig 75 live Macks into the tank.
When we reach the Banks, the skipper immediately spots a boil. He turned the boat sharply toward them, and we’re castin’ live baits on the slide…..Bammm! First hookup 2 mins. In!! I was able to boat this one fairly fast, and we were off after the next boil. Rodger hooks up! We’re only about 15 minutes into this. After Rodger gets this one to the boat, we’re off to the next boil!!!
It went this way for 3.5 hours. We had a triple, and three doubles. It WAS AMAZING!!
Our digital camera was giving us fits, but we got a few pics. When Rodger sends me his, I'll post more.

But, will Popeye catch a swordfish down there? I want to read another post about night fishing for swordfish among the schools of killer squid.
