It's been great! I've been sitting in the blind, watching the sun rise, listening to the tweety birds, and daydreaming of ducks.

Been out 3 times all year. One duck. Of course all three times have been bluebird days. Going tomorrow though...supposed to be a ducky day!

When it's good, it's great. When it's slow, it's still better than school or work. Only been hunting the valley so far this season, but lots of mallard limits and a few mixed bags. I can only think of two trips that I haven't shot anything. Not seeing huge numbers of ducks, but it's definately been better than average for me so far.

Over thanks giving I was seeing more ducks that I ever had for that time of year but they seem to have all left. Mostly mallards and woodies around with very few widgeon and pintail. We need a big storm to push all of the ducks off of puget sound. Some where I hear that there are 300,000 birds hanging around up there. Bring em on!

Man this year has been some of the best duck hunting I have ever had. On the other hand the duck killing this year is lacking severly. And on the other hand the goose hunting and killing has been pretty good.

Duck hunting has been slow and up until Saturday
goose hunting has been super.I only had 2 real opportunities and blew both of them. :depressed: .It seems the birds left the whole area.Oh well next time.(the dog is hoping she gets a new owner that can shoot better)

Well let's see, the birds are call shy, decoy shy, feeding at night and loafing during the day, moving on to greener pastures, etc.

I would say slow is a pretty good description. Pray for snow up north.

From what I've seen of the Northern Valley, duck and goose numbers are way down.

Had some good goose hunts but they are good for like 30 minutes then the flights just stop.

Lack of birds.

I did miss the high water last week while out of town though. That usually helps the duck hunting for me.

A cold snap and a north wind would be really nice.

It seems to me that 10 years ago it was common to break ice and use the propane heater to thaw the outboard. It's been a long time since we've had that kind of cold weather

I went out on the columbia yesterday afternoon, the hunting was good the shooting on my part was pretty bad, i missed everything out of a flock of about 15-20 bluebills, then missed two pintails that flew right over me, saw a group of about 50-80 mallards but never got close enough to shoot, the ducks are out there if you find them.

I did fantastic hunting the east side early in the season, from the opener through mid November. Since then the valley hunting for me(south benton county) has been 'average'. There are a load of birds in the valley but they must be taking some classes on the way south, they are really smart to hunting. It takes dang near a monsoon to get them to fly during shooting time.
