Default Yote Hunting Areas

I'm having the family up for Xmas and my dad & brother would like to go slay some howlers. I'm wondering if anyone knows of some good areas on the east side of Mt. Hood. I'll be staying around Brightwood and was hoping to find something down towards Maupin for a quick trip over and back. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I was over near the White River headquarters above Pine Hollow Res Monday and saw a 'yote up there. Anywhere around the White River Management Area has a few coyotes. You might find some around Postage Stamp Butte north of Tygh Valley, or out in the Deschutes River Canyon downstream of Sherers Falls.

Good luck!

There is a draw right above box car rapids on the dechutes that will take you all the way up top of the hills there, about the easiest way up there. There are lots of does and fawns in this area and when we hunt it we usually see a lot of coyotes in there, we usually see alot of birds too.

The wheat farms on either side of the Deschutes have TONS of coyotes. The farmers don't like them so any place that has Hunting by permission is going to let you shoot them. I personally like the east side. If the wind is out of the west like it is alot. You can set up on top and call back to the west down into the draws of the river. They come a running. I don't get over their much just to hunt coyotes, but I deer hunt over there and it is not uncommon to see 3-4 shooters a day without even calling and they always come in when we actually call. I would think that this time of year they would really come in.
