Laws On Predator Hunting..............
I am going out on sunday to try my luck with coyote hunting, (never done it before)
Anyway i was looking over the regs and i am just a little bit confused on what the law is.......
I am going to hunt up in the wilson unit where i have in the pst hunted for Elk, about 10 miles past the Timber turn off, i usually just take off one of those MANY logging roads and get into some open clearcuts.
I have my Hunting Licence but do i need anything else? Do i need a Furbearers permit?
Also, if the logging roads are open (no "no hunting" sighns or closed gates is that OK to hunt?
I am just trying to not get in trouble with the law or landowners
Thanks
Nick~

Re: Laws On Predator Hunting..............
I'm over here in WA so don't know OR yote regs in WA a small game license is required. As far as the logging roads if it's sun. and the gates are open and not posted I would say its a go,now a weekday may be another story with actice logging and such.Over here it gets so dam confusing you just never know sometimes they're posted yet they allow hunters in sometimes it's not posted and they'll raise a fuss, but if it's open on a weekend I'm going in.

If you are on Tillamook State Forest land, and it is not marked "Closed", then you are good to go.

Re: Laws On Predator Hunting..............
I went out on sunday, had 3 o 4 stands and called in nothing, it really didnt surprise me though because i just started to learn to call a few days before
I went up near Jewel and there was about 2 inches of snow and it was kinda crumy weather,
But hey thats why they call it hunting and not shooting

Re: Laws On Predator Hunting..............
As I understand, when pursuing "predators" like coyotes, feral pigs, rodents and rabbits you don't need a license on private land as long as you have permission and are acting on behalf of the landowner. Public land, you need only a license.
Good luck, and remember, it's always easier to call in or trap critters after the first 100, so hang in there, you'll get better! And as always, make sure the wind is in your favor.

Re: Laws On Predator Hunting..............
TonTo- As per Washinton Regs Page 45 "A small game license is required for all small game except forest grouse and coyotes which can be hunted if the hunter has a big game or small game license." You may have just been stating that you need a license, and small game would be the cheaper one to purchase, not sure, just thought I'd clear that up.
