Default Ifish Cat hunt poll and input request

I have never done a poll so if I screw this up, dont blame me, we can do another, so go ahead and use the info form this one and post away on another if you want.

I would like to gather some input so we can get a feeling for when and where the cat hunt should occur. IMHO this is a community decesion and I would like get as many opinions in the open as possible.

I am going to assume we can accomodate more people by doing this on a weekend Just by looking at the crowds on the rivers and in the woods, I am going to assume the majority of the people will want a weekend.

Please add input below so when Skein organizes this  he can accomodate the most people.

There has been some talk about the trout creeks. I am concerned if that is chosen what the turn out might be. Since most of the posters on this board live in the PDX area (based on where the states most population is), who will make the 6 or 7 hour commute after work on a friday to get there? I am generalizing with my thoughts, and if I am wrong, please let me know. I dont want to sway the poll results with my comments so answer how you feel.

Lets get a date chose, then we can pick a place to meet up and set up camp.

You should consider SW Oregon too.

That's right on Keta. There are tons of cats down here. In fact, this week there was a cat in a North Bend City Park. The problems with this area when cat hunting is...the excessive foliage...and no snow for tracking. It's pretty much varmint calling or just happening on to one.

Bring a couple sheep down and we'll give er a try!

Even though I think this is a great area and high in cat numbers I'd like to head east solely for the fact I'm sure we could do some damage to the coy dog population if anything. A cat would be a plus. The Steens would be my choice, maybe at the local hotsprings as a base camp??? Lots of kittys also and should be around the local wintering areas for deer. You can get into a couple local motels around there also for those who don't want to brave the wall tent in January. Just my .02.

As much as I would like to see us put a hurtin' on these cats on this side of the mountain, I think it would probably be more productive to head east. Can't wait to get some winter coyote hunting in at the same time.

I entered some of the questions.

I did not pick a date, I would go any weekend that I could. I would even go more than once if people were going on multiple weekends.

There has been an increased number of cougars on the east side, Starkey for an example. Some of these hunts may only take 5 hours to get to. Just a thought.
