Default Live Bait For Coyotes???

Any legal beagles out there know if there are laws about using live bait to lure yotes??? I know the bunny huggers would have a fit, but what about a game cop???

Can't help you with that one. I doubt that it's legal and I'm not sure I would want the hassle. I remember reading years ago about some guys who took brand-new kittens out and let them squall and they said it was super effective, but that was back when you could hunt 'yotes at night too.

That doesn't mean I won't try to borrow one of Keta's sheep when we head out cat hunting.

I know of guys who use trained dogs as bait. The dogs run around barking, enticing the yotes to chase them (a terratorial thing I think) back to the hunters.

I wouldn't do it.

Poodles on a teather, or any yappy little dog will work . You just put the dog in the middle of a field, play your predator call, and shoot quick or fifi gets ate.. (never done this) I do know people who have had great success w/ this method.

I've seen the coyote dogs Chummer's talking about advertised before and it does work. The dog goes out raises a fuss and when the yotes come running the little tease halls ass back to the hunter. One heck of a way to make a living though being used for yote bait, they must enjoy there work, just don't let em know there not realy a hunting dog or clue em in to the fact they realy are bait and they'll be happy ta please you.

I was thinking more along the line of a chicken. Tied on the end of an old salmon rod with the tip broken off. 25lb line tied to one leg so you can give an occational hook set, to make it squak. Then once you spot the dog, start reeling so as to really entice him!!!! I have a few excess roosters on hand, if anyone else wants to give it a try let me know.

I have a buddy who hunts on privite land. He use's live chickens hanging by the leg's. He places them on a pole near a wooded lot and waits for the Yotes to show. He says every so often you he has to hit them with a pellet gun to get them to squak.

They use pit blinds to hide in.

I sure hope the PETA folks don't get wind of this one.
