Who has auras?
Since my surgery, I get these auras. Sometimes with a headache, sometimes not.
But, it drives me nuts. I can't see!
Here is a good example of what it looks like:
http://www.migraine-aura.org/EN/Visual_Loss.html
I would do anything to make them stop. I get them three to four times a week.
I have one now, and it drives me crazy!

Re: Who has auras?
With no daycare today, I've got many AURAS to spend trying to entertain a 2 year old today
Mom's gone for 12 days. I hoped for snow, even bought a sled last night. I'll have to find a plan B.
Sorry Jen, I can just imagine how frustrating those could be.
Does it help to just close your eyes and rest for a bit?

Re: Who has auras?
Sorry to hear that you have them Jennie. That would drive me crazy too. I can hardly stand a speck on my glasses or on my windshild. I hope it goes away soon.
That was bad Brad.

Re: Who has auras?
For some reason I was thinking it was flashes of bright light/colors. Do you see them when your eyes are closed too? Drives me nuts when I have a "cloud" on my contact...this sounds really frustrating.
Feel better soon

Re: Who has auras?
Finally. A good description of them. Do you know how hard it is to descibe this to someone? Thank you Jennie!
Mine stay in a cresent shape all the way to the end.
Multi colour sparkles too. After it is done it is usally followed by a short painfull headache.
These things used to scare the bajebbers out of me.

Re: Who has auras?
I don't know about Jennie's but NO, they don't go away when you close your eyes. and it seems like you have it in only one eye, but it isn't. it's in both. It just has to go away on its own

Re: Who has auras?
No, it does not go away when I close my eyes. I only get them in my right eye.

Re: Who has auras?
Wow. I get "floaters", which are bad enough, but those auras look gnarly.

Re: Who has auras?
That's weird, Keta. Mine went away in the shower, too! Hot shower, all gone!
But, this morning... I was lucky! I had it twice! I got rid of it and I was so excited and then I got it again. Gag.
They make me nauseous. The thing is, I can't see out of my eyes well enough to make out the shapes, but I think it's kind of like the one that Fast Water gets, and the tree one on the page. (Furthest down.)
Really weird, and yes, really scary! I mean, you know for certain something is very wrong!
But, then they go away, and I usually just feel tired. Maybe the next day I'll get an all day headache, but not the terrible ones that I hear about. Thank God for that!
Jen

Re: Who has auras?
You are experiencing classic migraines. There are many treatments available, depending on your etiology. You have some complex medical issues that may contraindicate routine remedies. You may want to throw this by your personal physician.

Re: Who has auras?
Ah. I didn't scroll down far enough. That is a better picture of what I see though I'm not too sure about the whitness that is mentioned. And the graphic below it looking at the book shows how it moves from the center out to the edge in about 15 minutes or so.
