Default Any TV Repair persons out there???

I have a Memorex TV/VCR combo that I bought ~6 years ago. When I plug it in, it beeps at me. It won't display the picture, no sound, nothing...

Obviously, it's getting power to the TV, or else it wouldn't be beeping at me. It's a beep every 2-3 seconds or so. I've taken the cover off and found the area where the beeping is coming from, but don't know how to narrow it down to what's beeping. I don't have any schematics or prints. Question is...if I find out what's beeping, can I just replace the part or do I have to replace he whole board assembly?

Anybody out there a TV repair guru? Is it worth fooling with repairing it, or is it probably gonna cost me more money than what the TV's worth? Any help would be appreciateed, cause i'm kinda  Thanks

First, I'm not a TV repair person.

But!

I have a TV/VCR combo that I keep in my camper. If it gets moisture buildup in it, it won't go. I need to dry it out before it will come on.

Has it been somewhere where it could get moisture in it? If so, have you tried drying it out by putting it inside your house for a day?

The other thing I'd try is looking in the manual (may be available on-line, if you don't have it) to see if they can tell what the beeping is.

Good luck.

Nope...hasn't been where any moisture can get to it. It's inside all the time. It won't turn on with the button or remote...just sits there and beeps at me

most likely you can replace the one little part. My shop is next to a TV repair shop and I knew the Old Owner really well, but unfortunatly he just sold it and so I dont feel good about asking the new owner for freebies. My buddy that used to own it had said in the past that the tv vcr combos are junky and were a real PITA to work on. If I see him or call him today I will ask him.

it's unlikely that what's beeping is the source of the problem. Could be but I doubt it. Changing the "beeper" is a lot like changing the check engine light... it's just the indicator there is a problem, not the source. That said, I saw Fred Meyer has Sylvania 13" DVD/VCR combo's on sale for $124. You are unlikely to find a cheaper solution unless someone volunteers to work on it for free.

last time I had a problem with our tv/vcr combo - it had no picture or sound at all, no beeps nothing- I tried running our dvd throught the auxiliary ports to see if we could get anything there. YEP it worked. there was a trouble with the vcr/cable input. the cost to repair was more than the cost to replace it with a new one so we just left the dvd hooked up and watched through it.
