Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
One thing I did notice about the ducks today rauly is the seemed to be very much northern birds !!! almost florescent orange feet and bills and great coloring !! It is easy to tell the difference these days between norhterns and locals !! So I was somewhat encouraged by that.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
Hunted private land in south benton county near Finley and had a good shoot. We ended up with 37 ducks, mostly mallards but also wigeon, teal, woodies, and a pintail. Birds flew great from 8-10 then it slowed down. I sure didnt see many geese flying today...are they all north of finley?

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
Hunted my new leased property in Clatskanie on Saturday. The guy that was showing me around didn't show up until 10 minutes into shoot time. While I was waiting for him, not knowing where to set up, I was watching several flights of mallards go by. He finally showed up - we got to the hunt area and got set up by about 8:00 AM. While I was setting up, a flight wanted into what spread I already had down, so I picked off a small mallard hen. Nothing more after that - bluebird day......Maybe next time.

Slow hunting for me in the Valley this weekend. Water water everywhere. On the rise, a few more ducks flying but mostly setting into the flooded fields. No backwater decoy show in this current. Picked up a drake woodie and some wigeon.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
I walked around Sauvie Sat. afternoon, (Retenaar)(sp), it was VERY quiet. Guys at the check station said VERY SLOW.
Spent Sunday on Tillamook Bay in a CONSTANT drizzle (NO WIND) My buddy and I had 3 good "goes" killed, 3 birds..passed on a couple Pintails....slow at best. We drove around the Bay after the tide started out and the birds just aren't there right now, not even on the sheet water.
Shoulda gone to the lower Columbia oh well

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
hunted Sauvie today. Seal #1..managed to get one lousy greenhead by noon. however, i can't complain. today was one of those days where i couldn't hit the broad side of a barn..i missed 6 easy shots early on before i picked up the mallard.. and that was all i got.

Hunted Mud #9 with fellow Ifisher Leatherneck.
We had great hunt, we had birds working our end of the lake all day! But they just didn't want to set down
But we did manage some: 2 Widgeon, 2 Teal and 2 Pinnies.
It was nice to see that many birds flying for such a nice day, on that end of the lake anyway
Thanks for a great hunt John!
It was nice to meat you Ed!

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
I hunted Deadwillow today. I took a drake pintail. I let a couple wigeon slip by in the dark. All the Bios said it is too warm up north.
I walked out wearing my T shirt. Some other fella on the corn-side took about three or four ducks. Good hunter.
I scared up about two thousand geese when I approached the pond. Water is great! The DU project really paid off except that the water is about twenty feet from the corn and berry bushes.
I seen a lot of big ducks up high in migration patterns until noon.
All of my reservations this year so far have ended up as blue-bird weather days. I will try again Friday.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 12/6 - 12/12
Went North to Washington, Oak Harbor, and shot three limits of sea ducks last weekend. Lots of birds to be had and no hunters. However, sea ducks are probably not high on the duck list to most hunters. The only disappointment in the hunt was I was unable to bag the long tail duck for the trophy room. Maybe next year. The price of fun just keeps going up.

12-13-03 North of St. Helens
Put the Gortex to the test today. Hunted from first light till the Duck Game started at 11am. Only a few birds coming down to take a look. Really not many moving anywhere - I could see perhaps 3 good flights move out over the columbia... wern't many geese on the move today either. Pretty disapointing over all - especially after having a pretty good showing on wednesday.
