Default Homemade Tarsal Scent?

Has anyone researched making your own scents?
I have used frozen tarsals glands before and hung them up to try and attract bucks.I am thinking as strong buck scent might be a good thing to have around the Rattling set-up.
I have a pair of really fragrant ones in the freezer now, and am wondering if I could soak them in some kind of a non scented oil or something to get a few more miles out of them?

Good question cc, unfortuantely I don't have an answer for you. You might pose the question on a national forum with more whitetail hunters, those guys have been playing around with tarsal glands and scent's alot longer then us western kid's who just "go hunting"!

Just cut off a little section at a time dont use the whole thing. I dont think you would want to mix anything with it but like sliverpicker said see what others have to say.

I would think that if it takes a deer or elk two whole tarsals to attract attention, perhaps cutting off part of one may not be adequate???

All I was able to find on this was possibly to soak them in buck urine, pour the whole mess in a spray bottle and, well.... I do not think I will be able to collect any more of that this year, so I will try just defrost em' next November and hope for the best.
