Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I bought a pair this year and have used them on 5-6 hunts. They are quiet and lite. Very comfortable with little break-in. I would go for it at that price.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
Bought a pair couple months ago. Fit like a glove. $110.00 is a good deal. Tomorrow is my day off so I get to wear them again.
God, I love my danners.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I bought a pair the Wednesday before chukar season opened. Wore them around the house a bit and then took 'em to the hills opening day. No blisters, no stopping, no worries. Great boots.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I have had many pairs of danners, I will not buy another pair, Danner does not stand up to theri warranty. I bought a pair of bighorns and use them for hunting, the first pair leaked and it was hard to even get them to replace them, they told me that I was using the boots for work and then they only have a 60 or 90 day warranty, I said that was a crock of crud. I got my new ones and the first time out they ripped out just below the laces. Took them back and they said to bad. We can give you 50% off a new pair. I said NO WAY and threw them away and bought another pair of Rockys. I got to say I like my rockies better than any other pair of Danners that I have ever had. They are less money too. Every pair of Danners that I have had will creak as you walk and sneak up on animals. I have never had a pair that did not squeak.
I would buy ROCKIES.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I bought a pair of the pronghorns, I wore them hunting right out of the box, But they do creak and I have tryed everything to get rid of this...
I will never buy another pair of Danners, especially when I thought I had bought a USA made product, when infact they were made in China
and they were the same price as if they were made in the USA.....Go Figure

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I have used my pronghorns for 2 years and no problems. Try going to the Danner Outlet store at 123rd and Airport Way. I was thre yesterday and they had gobs of pronghorns insulated and uninsulated, maybe you can get them cheaper than at Joe's. Most of these shoes/boots they sell are seconds with a minor blemish or extra eyelet, but I have not had a problem with their seconds in over ten years

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
Be careful when buying directly from the Danner factory. All the boots should be marked with the defect and they are not covered by their replacement warranty. You can get a decent deal there. Ask the salesperson how to tell what the defects are before you buy.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I needed new hunting boots this year so I did some comsumer investigating on the internet and decided to buy from Rocky. My main selection in a boot was it had to be waterproof and lightweight so I chose the Rocky Exterme Lights. Well let me tell you, after one deer season and one elk season these boots just desintegrated on me. My buddy bought a pair of Rocky Field Rats and loved them so I took mine back and exchanged them for the Rats. I love these boots, they have kept my feet completely dry in some very wet conditions (complete submersion) and I think they are lighter then the Extremes I bought originally. I would recommend these Rocky Field Rats to anyone, they are $119 at Sportsman's.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I've had three pair of danners, all bought at their facory outlet. I've never had a pair that DIDN'T leak after the first season. I really think they are overrated. I know, so why did I buy three pairs?

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I looked at a pair pronghorns early this year and didnt like the sole on them. Maybe they have better traction than it looked like
I have heard horror stories about danners, but I have never had a problem with them. Love their bob soles but they do wear out fairly fast, but if you buy a soft tire for your car so you get good traction you dont get good wear. Buy a hard tire it will last for ever but not stick to the pavement as well, it is all what you are after wear or traction. I will take traction any time on my boots and buy them more often. Only gotta fall one time to ruin a season or life.
I have had several Rockys and they never fit my feet very well. Got a pair of Rocky 1000 gram insulation boots and they are the most uncomfortable boot I have ever had but in all fairness the thickness doesnt make them flexible, but they are warm.
Danner outlet is almost full price anymore for 2nds with no warranty. :depressed: I have seen boots cheaper at Cabelas with freight than the danner outlet

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I've got a pair of proghorns and they are fine. But, if you are using them in cold weather, I recommend danner trophy's. I've had my Trophys for 4 years and they are the best boot made in my opinion. I bought my dad a pair for Christmas last year and he agrees. They are about $300 but they'll last forever. I've got a pair of Cabelas guide series that I wore out hunting. They are great boots too and I wouldn't be afraid about ordering them from Cabelas if you know your size. I think they might be made by danner from the looks of them so you'd wear the same size as you do in a danner.
Talons - those were your bones creaking, not the boots.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
ICHTHYDEMON,
The first pair of Rocky field rats I bought seemed to be to tight (I always wear two pair of socks) and I noticed that they were narrows so I took them back and exchanged them a wider pair. I know for sure that you can get then in a narrow and wide version, maybe the narrows would be good for you. Go check out these field rats, their pretty sweet.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I've had many pair of Daners. I think it is pretty simple. If your boots squeak, then you should oil them. I'm sick of people complaining about something that doesn't take care of everything right out of the box for them. My uncle (whom I respect greatly) complained that his Danners were sqeaking. I asked him what he planned on doing about it....he put mink oil on them and they were the best boots he's ever had. Gee, too bad that a Danner rep didn't come out to the house (with a swimsuit model) and fix them for him. Please, lets try to keep the ******** down. There are probably G.I.'s out there that are wearing those pathetic boots and GOD knows we need them on that wall. Squeaky boots or not.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I agree mine were squeeking a bit due to lack of oiling, one good coat of Huberd's shoe grease and they were as good as the day I bought them 12 years ago. never leaked on me through the years of standing in a river up to the top of the boots fishing or deep in the woods in a down poor. I love my danners and will purchase another pair if the need ever should arise.

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
I bought a pair of Pronghorns for early archery season. They're light and the bob soles cleaned out nicely in the mud. Nice and quiet and good for long hikes.
They wore blisters on my heels but I was putting on between 6-12 miles/day. Every pair of new boots I've owned have done the same.
I'm wearing them again next year.
Good luck

Re: Danner Pronghorns?
Thanks for your input.
I've worn my current Rockys for the last 5 years, and they are just about finished. They have never leaked, and the sole is in good shape. The leather is where they are falling apart. They are cut, gouged, and torn. I have been very pleased with the Rockys, but they don't fit my feet well. I HAVE to wear two pairs of socks,to take up the extra space in the boots. I've tried on 10.5s and they're too small,11s are ok,but a bit too big, thats where the extra socks come in.
I want to try a pair from Cabelas, but don't want to get stuck with boots that don't fit. I don't like buying clothes from a catalog, they never seem to fit,and then you end up with return shipping costs.
