Default Good news on Lingcod and others

Pacific Fishery Management Council Announces Good News on Rebuilding of Fish Stocks
The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) is pleased to announce that the West Coast lingcod stock has been successfully rebuilt after being designated “overfished” by the federal government in 1999. The rebuilding was accomplished while avoiding a complete closure of lingcod or groundfish fisheries. In addition, the status of other key overfished stocks has improved.

Rick-
Go to www.pcouncil.org

Look on the right side under "Current Events". It's in pdf format so you need Adobe to read it.

That is such an incredibly positive bit of news! I am not sure of any cause and effect relationships but the end result is that a fisshery seems to have reversed a bad trend and is recovering. Sad to see that Yeloweye have continued to decline. They are such a great food fish and we have crushed the fishery to a dangerous level, in my lifetime. I guess we have a bit more hope now
Thanks Rod, for the heads up, Dave
