Salmon River Estuary Elk Hunt

I drew a cow tag for the Salmon River estuary hunt in January. Kind of a fluke, it was my 3rd or 4th choice. Anyway I need to start scouting and obtaining permission from landowners. Any suggestions or insights about this hunt/area?

I did a hunt like this some years ago. Contact the ODFW biologist for that area, that is where I got most of my useful information from. They basically told me who to contact (timber company rep) and what area the animals have been see in lately. Also, landowner names can be obtained from the county seat for particular chunks of private land you want to hunt and you can then contact the landowners through the phone directory.
