I have been fishing the Hood for almost 30 years and I don't know who the Joker from The Dalles who keeps writing all the B.S. in the Fishing and Hunting News is. He obviously does not actually fish the river much. His attempts to make a name for himself by sharing his so called knowledge of this river, is doing nothing but making him look like a jerk to both the locals and the guys who expect "Real" information from the Fishing and Hunting News.

Cats who read Fishing & Hunting News should be required to get the " National Obsever".That way they can back up the statements they make when they quote the " Globe "

Default Hood Report

Hit the Hood today. Hit it hard. My dad and I fished every little pocket, behind every rock, in every tailout, every riffle. Not a single hit. Water wasn't too cold, had to be around 40. Clarity got worse as the day went on, but still never went below about 6 inches. Plenty fishable. But not a single fish. Saw maybe 10 other guys fishing, and only one guy had fish. His limit to be exact. Lucky dog. That was it. Two fish for 12 guys. Not very encouraging. Anyways, good luck and tight lines.

Maybe I am referring to someone else. I have not read all the articles about the Hood in the Fishing and Hunting News in the last year myself(my dad gets it). But the one I did read listed the guy from the Dalles at the time. My dad lives in The Dalles so I was not talking down on TD(sorry to anyone who took it that way), it only seems as if this person is not really in the know about the Hood based on the reports given. Where they are from does not change the point I was making. Do you think they are going to publish articles saying how POOR the fishing has been. I don't think so. When you TALK UP a river people want to listen and read. So if you want to get published write how good it is.

Makes no difference to me. I live 2 minutes from the river so I know what is going on down there if I choose to. I just hate to hear about people going somewhere thinking it is going off because someone filled them full of hot air.

So I'm curious, is there any truth to the removal of the big creek strain used in the hood?
My buddy from Morrow told me that they are now rearing their own strain, and will be coming in later than normal?

I was there this morning myself and nothing to report. The river looked fair in some holes and greenish-brown in others. Ah, well. There's always this afternoon.

I'm not sending in those reports by the way. I don't give anyone specifics on where I fish.
