Re: Duck Hunting Guides
Might want to see if one of us has an open seat in a blind for you instead of doing the guide thing.
Lots of us on here are glad to help a new hunter get started in Waterfowl pursuits.
Occasionally i have an open seat, and I post it on here. Save you some money for gear.
Lots of folks have good luck with a 3 inch load of #2 or # 3 for ducks. and I have found that shells which throw the shot at 1500 fps or more do a good job on ducks.
iN REGARDS TO CHOKE, i use a double barrel gun with an improved cyl, and a modified barrel.
Lots of guns get messed up if you try to push that tight patterning steel through a constriction of more than modified..
In regards to shooting etiquette, I'd run that by the folks you are out with. I know that when I go with my buddies, if a bird is close enough to kill, we all try to get it.
It can depend on the total number of hunters in the blind too... If it is just 2 guys , it is pretty easy to figure out.
But more than 4 it should be discussed just so that people dont feel like they didn't get a chance to hunt.
I think there are some guides up on Puget sound, But I am fairly sure that the yspecialize on Big water Seaducks. Oldsquaw/Godeneye/Scoter/Harlequins and the occasional Wayward Eider.
I do not believe I have ever seen a guide vehicle out there, at least not where I have been.
Maybe Iam wrong.
Anyone?
