Re: Hi Point firearms.
I have one. It is dependable, but low end. Not accurate as are many .45's. Higher end pistols will give you many more features. It's also heavy in the .45

Re: Hi Point firearms.
I have one in 9mm. I like it well enough, but I would not use it for shooting beyond about 30 feet.

Re: Hi Point firearms.
I would pass on the HP and take a look at either the Taurus PT145 or the Firestorm Mini-45. Both are of higher quality and can be had for roughly $360 NIB. Want even more durability, go with a Ruger P90 for $425 NIB.
Austrian tupperware would be an excellent choice but don't forget to take a look at Kimber, HK, and SIG to name a few more.
BTW- $179 is high for the Hi Point you should be able to find one in the $130's if you shop around.
Yep, that is a Glock.

Re: Hi Point firearms.
$179 is the suggested retail from their web site. Auction arms had a bunch for $142.
Why would you pass them?

Re: Hi Point firearms.
I have a shot a .40 and a 9MM and found the following; they do not feel right in my hand (clumsy/ackward), had several FTF's and FTE's, sights are marginal. Overall my Hi-Point experience did not inspire a lot of confidence in it's reliability or performance. If someone offered it to me for free, I would probably take it and add it to the collection and use it as a plinker and conversation piece. If I had some extra cash laying around - I would save up until I could afford something else.
On the other hand, people here and on other forums have found them to be very reliable but rarely do they suggest them for self defense.
How did you come up with 2 such different firearms as the Glock and the HP? About the only thing they have in common is that they are both ugly.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">HK I assume, they are 2 of the most reliable pistols on the market and also pretty accurate.. As far as the high point goes, if feels wrong.. It seems like the Hyundai of pistols (old Hyundais),Get a nice used pistol.

Re: Hi Point firearms.
Nope, he listed Hi-Point(HP) and the Glock as the 2 choices. Agree on HK.

Re: Hi Point firearms.
Find a $300 Norinco 1911 45ACP on gunsamerica.com, offer them $250 - they're always at least $50 overpriced. If you can get over the fact that a communist made your slabside, they shoot very well, are forged steel, and are easily customized.
