I have 3 Cimmaron's - wouldn't have 3 unless I liked them. I've used them for years and have never had problems. I think they're great reels.

Roos reels are A++++ IN QUALITY and craftmanship. I owned a gunnison and 6 spools for years and years. I caught more fish on that reel than all other reels I have ever owned...combined! You could beat the snot out of those reels, and they wouldnt fail.

If your reel was manufactured in 1998 or later: Changing 1998 to Present Ross Cimmaron Retrieve Direction

If your reel was manufactured before 1998: Changing Pre 1998 Ross Cimmaron Retrieve Direction

I have two Ross #3 and a #5 Cimarron. The #3's have got about 4 years use, the #5 just a few months. I love em'. I've used them in fresh and salt water. Keep them clean and maintainence is complete, no lube. I have found them to be bullet proof.

I'vee owned severall and been to the factory when I used to guide out of Montrose. Hard to find a better company. I salvaged a reel off the bottom and brought it in to them for a "waranty" repair . Even though they new I hauled it up off the bottom they gave me a brand new reel. I highly reccomend them.

Great news on service. I'm a service addict and use Orvis stuff due to it. But, with this meaty remark, I may just go out and grab a Ross in the near future.

Thanks,

I've been using my gunnison g-2 going on 14 years for trout and steelhead. It's taken a beating and still works like new. Only issue I've had was a plastic clicker part wore away, but sent it in for repair and service was quick, friendly, and free of charge. You can't go wrong with a Ross.

While I think disc drag reels are pretty unecessary for trout (and probably steelhead), I really like my Cimmaron and Gunnison.

Have a Ross Canyon 4 that has yet to feel the pull of steel, am hoping to change that this winter...as soon as I'm done hunting.
Do like the feel of it in simulated fights with my boxer, just put a piece of yarn, no hook, and cast anywhere near her. The fight is on.
