Default Shot Gun Value

My father in-law has a 16gage shot gun. The gun is a Browning Citori over and under. I need to know how much this gun is worth. He is wanting to sell it.

Thank you.

The gun is dangerous to shoot and 16 ga shells are hard to find. Have him send it to me and I'll get rid of it for him

Look up "The Blue Book of Gun Values" for a price. Mine is too old to help you.

They might have the book in your library. With out seeing the gun it would be hard to price and it being 16ga it could have some collector value. My first shotgun was a side by side 16 gage and I wish ammo for it was easier to find.

What kind of shape is it in? Does it have alot of scratches or is it in excellent shape no marks no dings in the stock? Knowing that will help put a value to it. Give it a % on how good it is. This will all help and I will see if I can get you a price. Also about how old is it?

I am unsure of the age. I know it has had very few roiunds through it. I would say it is a 90 out of a 100. It has one mark on the butt stock that I think will rub off with some polishing. The mark or possible scuff is very small and white in color. Thanks fro all of the help so far!!

I just looked up the Browning Citori in a gun blue book and there are 10 pages of different models ranging from $395 to $5650. I'd recommend you get the specifics on the gun, then go to the library or gun shop and look it up in the book. Condition has a lot to do with what it will be worth, but first you need to narrow it down to the specific gun. I did notice that most of the models indicated to add 15% for 16 gauges. You also might take it to a gun shop and ask them what they think.

Condition, Made in location, Grade all play a role in the value of the gun. Your probably looking around 600 for used gun in good shape. I bought my citori 12 for 650 used. NIB value is around 1200

O.k.,

Here's what I can tell you. The Browning Citori Lightning 16 ga is VERY sought after amongst 16 ga. fans.

They were made in the mid-1980s in a couple of small batches and sold for the price that a any other Citori Lightning sold for at the time.

Some of the distributors had some left on hand and by around 1989 a couple of them were blowing them out for $750 (this is if you had an FFL).

Shortly thereafter you COULDN'T FIND them on any dealer's shelves and the price for N.I.B. ones at gunshows and ads were frequently as high as $1,600-$2,000! (mid 1990s to present)

They are somewhat "rare" and really nice guns to hunt with, quite a bit lighter than the 12 ga. Citori and made on their own special "mid-size" frame.

I heard that Browning was thinking of running another batch last year (but have never seen any of them offered or in Browning's literature etc.) so maybe they did and maybe not...don't know.

I'd guess that if the 16 ga. Citori you mentioned is in the shape you describe you could easily expect to get $1,200 for it without much argument.

You might try putting it up on a site like AuctionArms.com with a starting price of $1,100 and see where it goes...
