Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
Just got back from duck hunting on the east side of the valley. Done by 7:25 with two more limits of mallards/wigeon from a flooded field. Ducks just pouring in as fast as we could pick them up. My Dad picked up a really cool looking mallard drake. Probably a dom. cross. A little darker color to him, except the brown patch on his chest is pure white. Pretty cool.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
Lots of people out chasing elk in the snow. One of my buddies shot one Monday, and my dad and friend are out right now. Yesterday they ran into lots of people and elk just starting to vacate the high country. Should be good the next few days.

Duck hunting Willamette river, Yamhill county.
Really bad. Got one shot off and missed that one.
Hunted until noon and probably saw a total of 8 ducks and only one bothered to come in range. Two other spreads near me also and didn't hear a shot out of them either. Have not done well the last couple of years out there may have to change my area. To bad, my sons first duck trip where he could hunt. At least he got his gun barrel warm.(I was a good dad and let him shoot at the only one that came in)

Geez Skein. I'm not sure how to score that one for brownie points. Ithink it may go off the scale. You are a handyman for sure.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
Two days in the timber of Klickitat hunting elk and deer, but couldn't put it together. The real shooting started on Friday, a day we weren't in the woods. A good friend of ours and his son scored a five point and a four point bull, some kind of day. Saturday brought a number of elk scattered through a small area, with a high number of hunters. There was shooting on all sides, heard several shots in close, but only caught a glimpse of something that I can only assume was an elk. No deer until this evening when we moved to a different location due to the frosty, crunchy ground in our elk hunting spot. My uncle spotted a doe and a yearling, possibly accompanied by another deer that only showed it's presence as the cover of night fell. Good luck to you others. TOC

Aha. While you guys were laying in the mud making honking noises, or sweating through the snow on the trail of an elk, or shooting chukars (and cougars) in the hills, I've been busy making POINTS with my wife.
Here's my hunting story for the weekend, and I'm thinking it will pay off in lots of ways.
Still have to get the countertops cut and the sink installed, but at least the cabinets are in.

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
The elk hunting yesterday was a bust for my dad. Lots of people, LOTS of rain, and few elk. They are really scattered and holding tight in the reprods.
Hunted south Benton county this morning and we totaled 19 ducks, mostly mallards. Good totals considering the lack of weather. There is a load of ducks in the valley right now, just need the weather and we'll be good to go

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
M-Y,
Don't worry about looking bad. These have been in my shop since July, but I got a new boat, and then suddenly it was hunting season, and then the geese were calling, and then.... well, and then she said, "Uh, when is it gonna be my turn?"
If I can finish the countertops and sink today and tomorrow, by Wednesday I'll have a real hunting report for you.
This may be the perfect time to mention those new decoys I need....

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
Spent all most the entire weekend(4-Days) on the late muzzeloader deer hunt in the Satsop Unit Wa. I can honestly not remember a more exciting late deer hunt. Rattled a very respectable buck within 70 yards, would have been a done deal except for a love-sick doe that would not leave me alone every time I rattled. Can't wait for next weekend, do it all over again, hopefully with a little different results

Hunted the West Side this AM. Only 1 Drake Teal for me.
Hunted Steelman, didn't see many birds working the lake, until 9:30, when I had to leave and get to work

Re: Hunting Reports Week 11/29 - 12/5
Spent the holiday weekend trying to skewer some buck meat down in the Siuslaw. Probably saw a dozen different bucks, passed a forky and was given the slip by the biggest buck I've seen in the last few years. I spotted him in a unit about 150 yds. away at daylight w/ 5 does. He put on a display w/ lip curls and the whole 9. Anyway, he ended up following his does down into a buffer strip which we hunted, one on each end towards the middle. I am reminded each year why they call blacktails the "Ghost of the Forest". We saw every one of his does but all be darned if he didn't vaporize into thin air. I cut his tracks but he either busted directly to the bottom without stopping or he let me walk by and snuck out the back.
Oh well, theres always next weekend. I just enjoy matching wits w/ those mossy old boys.
