Re: Coyote Hunting Question?
It's been my experience that they wise up to a call pretty fast. Once I've spooked one or, in this case, called and scored, I leave it alone for at least a couple of weeks. If there is a lot of hunting pressure, I may not go back for a month to six weeks. There's a good chance that he saw or heard the other one taken, and that may be why he showed no interest in your call.
Now having said that, and knowing that 85% of the coyote population out there lives JUST to make a fool out of me, you could probably go back tomorrow and call him right into your lap. But I'd give him more time to forgive and forget.
One more thing. If I really wanted to get this other guy, I might resort to a different call, like a howler. This time of year they are starting to get more vocal, and a howl will often bring them in where a call, especially the same call, will not.
That's my take on it. Your mileage may vary.
