Default How do you know ?

How do you know that duck you shot didn't spend his summer months in the sewage treatment pond ?

That's always bothered me. Not that the birds really taste that good but How do you really know ?

Kind of like the geese I saw in the mud puddle surrounded by cattle and what cattle leave behind last weekend out at Sauvies?

I think of ducks like I think of crabs. Crabs eat Shad, the most foul, disgusting, vile flesh on God's green earth. They taste just fine. A sort of "natural alchemy" if you will. In goes shad, out comes crab. Anyway, I figure if crabs can taste that good eating shad, ducks should tast fine no matter what they eat.

Sorta like shooting feedlot ducks. I'm sure that some of the corn that they find had passed through something else first.

Thats what I told my girlfriends mom when I wanted to store 50 shad in her freezer. You lower the shad to the bottom in your traps and it magically turns into crabs.
