The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
OK, I have just figured out why I am such a "Bah Humbug" kinda guy around Christmas. It is Paddy O'Cinnamon's fault.
You see, I grew up listening to "The Cinnamon Bear" every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You old-timers will remember Paddy, the Crazy-Quilt Dragon, Jimmy, Judy and all the rest. Lippman Wolfe & Co. sponsored the series. We're talking maybe 50-55 years ago when it first aired (just checked --- 1937! )
I miss them, even more than I miss any of my ex-wives. I miss that story. And most of all, I miss the music. Whatever happened to them?
Meanwhile --- Bah! Humbug!

Re: The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
Hey Jack,
Starting November 28th at 7PM K103 FM will start the serial.
We have it on CD from the Smithsonian but I rather hear it every night on the radio.

OH thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou Life is good again. I may even put up a real Christmas tree.
You parents may want to check this out for your kids. Nearly 70 years old, and still captivating kids (young and old alike).

Re: The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
As a kid I recall the Cinnamon bear at Lippmans department store here in Salem. Lippmans is no longer around, but I loved to go downtown with my mom and see the cinnamon bear (at xmas time) and get a free cookie. That would have been in the mid 60's, is that the same bear ??
I'm not Bah-Humbug......and I will get a real tree

Re: The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
I remember listening to the Cinnimon Bear as a kid and later when I was working in Portland I would listen to it on the radio when I ate my lunch. We also used to listen to all the great comedy skits at around thanksgiving time. Sponsored by Whitmans Chocolates. " And NOW the Cinna Min Bear..........
Wait.......you forgot the Wintergreen witch!

Well it should be right here in the trunk. Only... only it doesn't seem to be here.

Re: The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
The folks had a big stand-up radio, bigger than most TV's by today's standards. The whole family would listen to the Cinnamon Bear. My brother and I laid out on the floor in front of the radio and Mom and Dad in their respective chairs. Oh....for the simpler days!

Re: The Cinnamon Bear (snif!)
Loved that program every year while growing up. Always had to get home in time for it. That was a G rated serial for kids and parents too. I think I will call my granddaughters and tell them to listen.
Ah memories, "I'm the Cinnaman Bear dah dah da dum". With my senior dementia, I can only remember the first few words and the melody. I will probably have it zooming through my head all day and night.
