Default saddle mountain unit? late archery deer.

Just wondering if anybody has been seeing very many deer in this unit. I was thinking about going this week-end for the late archery season but Im not sure where to start at. I was thinking of maybe going up hwy 47 and trying towards vernonia and hunt somewhere on the west side of the highway up a road or 2. I know theres a couple roads off of 26 by elsie but dont know if that would be worth it or not. So if anyone could give me an area to try that would be great. Thanks,sturgeon1.

Most of that unit is gated, so it's walk in only. They only open the gates during rifle season. During the early archery season, I saw about 75 elk and only two deer in the area of saddle moutain I hunt. Just find a gate near a clearcut and start walking and glassing.

McGregor road is always open , just past the watering hole on 26 and i have seen many good bucks in there over the years. Lots to look at up there. Good luck Unfortunately i always see them during elk season.
