Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
I voted Beavers, but alas, it is just a heart bet. With losses to (albeit improved, but still terrible) Arizona and Stanford teams, Beaver Nation is likely to end up with their big flat tails between their collective stubby little legs.
Oh well, can't blame a rodent for hoping

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
It didn't hit me about how favored the Ducks are until the interview I saw with Gunderson. He's scared. Truly though, nothing matters except what happens on the field.

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
Yeah, I voted for the Beavers, but only because I am a life-long fan. The Beavs better start playing better (and smarter) if they want to even have a chance to win this one. Still, I gotta say GO BEAVS!!!

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
I voted Ducks for two reasons:
1.....MY TEAM...Go Ducks!
2.....Odds are greatly in their favor.
But with that said, this is the Cival War and emotion and heart go a long way. It really is anybodys game.

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
Go Beav's I think the best we could hope for is an over confident duck team and gunderson needs to step up, get rid of the betterflies and take control. If this happens we still probably lose but make it close and were will matt more play next year? Oh Well.. isn't Dennis Erickson looking for a job. just a thought..

I Voted Ducks even though I am a beaver through ansd through!! you see statistically speaking it has been ETREEMELY!! rare for the away team of the Oregon state civil war game to win. I voted as if I were making the bet, hoping to lose nad knwing Id win.

Now THAT is a good friend: tickets of the 50-yard line to just about any Division I football game, but our very own Civil War, to boot!!! (and to Alexis Serna, "to boot" must mean something entirely different).

I hope Dennis Erickson does come back as Beavers coach. With his track record of recruiting the type of people he attracts that should put OSU in the position of losing scholarships because of academic performance!!!!

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
beavers are....well.....not very good.
but, i dont know how much better Oregon is.
Oregon's Defense is tops in the pac 10 and the beav's are last...that will make the difference in this game.

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
The Ducks win big this year because:
One receiver and a couple of linebackers can't match up to a well balanced Oregon team.
Haloti Ngata
Coaching
Possibility of BCS game may hinge on outcome
Revenge for last year
Autzen and the fans
Cornerbacks, Ours are finally better than somebody elses.
We have a better mascot
If there's ever a game where you throw away the spread, it's the Civil War, but even though the Beavers have shown a lot of heart all year, it just aint gonna happen this time

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
First off I want to say that I am huge tried-and-true Beaver fan. Even though we aren't having the most banner season this year I felt we had a fighting chance when Clemens went down for Oregon. But now after Moore going down as well last weekend I'm not so sure. We have no offensive line to protect Gunderson and I'm affraid he'll fold under the pressure, even though he did pretty well in the game last weekend. And we have had virtually no defensive secondary this season and that also worries me agaist Oregon's recievers. So we will see, it is the Civil War, and stranger things have happened. It pains me greatly, but I think it will end up Ducks by 13 (but I voted with my heart).
I to am going to the game but I'll be with a bunch of Duck fans. I couldn't turn down a chance to go and my friend has duck season tickets and invited me, so look for that orange dot amongst the sea of green/yellow, that will be me. Hopefully they won't put me on tv getting pummeled by the people around me
GO BEAVS, play your hearts out......................

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
All the beavers have to do is run slant routes to the inside about 12 to 15 yards deep and they will have no problem moving the ball against Oregon. The cougs did that just fine against the Ducks. It was when they tried to do short gains in the box where we had trouble.
The Ducks just need to play with confidence and they should be fine.
I could really care less who wins the game, just as long as it is a good game.
GO WAZZU!!!

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
How do you figure this will be the best Beav team we see in many years to come? We have a really young line, 2nd leading rb in the conference, returning qb with a redshirt waiting in the wings to take the program over. Young defensive backfield, young defensive ends, and good linebackers waitng 2 take over! Still trying to figure how this is gonna make us go backwards?!

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
I agree Artwo. I cant wait to see where we are at 2 years from now! They say Canfield could have easily battled for the starting qb postion this year as a 17 year old. Sounds to be pretty darn promising to me!

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
Hmmmm, the Ducks are loosing Haloti Ngata, Demetrius Williams, Tim Day, Kellen Clemens, Devan Long, Terence Whitehead and Anthony Trucks. We're deep at most of those positions and our O line is mostly freshmen and sophomores, so I think that the Civil War's home field advantage may only last until next year.

It will be a war like usual, but the Ducks have made the big plays all season long when they really needed them!
Besides, when was the last time the Beavers won at Autzen?

I'll be another Black/Orange speck in a sea of green/yellow (Bro' has season tickets )
A few more wins would have been nice this year, but considering how many freshmen and sophs we have starting it's been a good year. Bowls in the last three years is a far cry from the Beav's of the late 80's when I was there. Look for the Beav's to be the dominant program in the state in the next few years
Why do some duck fans find it necessary to dis our program  Must be an insecurity issue
A 24+ point win by the Ducks?? Either give me some of that action ($$'s) or turn me on to what you've been smokin'
My prediction: Moore starts and doesn't throw any picks; the Beav's have less than 50 yards of penalties; Serna redeems himself with a final minute field goal to win the game

Kokes, you are correct, the Beavers have a very young team. The Ducks on the other hand, will graduate most of their starters.
Here's to a good game.
Then there is the Apple Cup.
I think I'm rooting for the Cougs, if they win, both WSU and UW will be in last place in the Pac10. With all the trash talk we have had to endure over the years from up North, this would truly be poetic justice. Enjoy your crow sandwich

Well Said!!!
Freespool,
You are very uninformed if you think the Ducks will be graduating most of their starters. The Ducks have recruited very well, and will have a young and very, very talented and strong team for the next many years to come. They also have many great commits as this years recruiting class begins to take shape. The Ducks are here to stay near the top, and fighting for the Pac-10 title.

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
Ryan,
Thanks for the prediction. Not sure if will be that one-sided or not, but I hope so. I say the score will be more like: Ducks 31....Beavs 17..!!!!
I think the Apple Cup belongs to the Cougs;
Cougs 38....Dawgs 14..!!! GO COUGS!!!!

I hope Dennis Erickson does come back as Beavers coach. With his track record of recruiting the type of people he attracts that should put OSU in the position of losing scholarships because of academic performance!!!!
|
Erickson would recruit from Guantonamo Bay or Abu Grhaib if someone could run a 4.3 40
|
I believe that the Beavers had quite a few academic Athletes honored this year and the Ducks just 1
beavers 2 first team and 2 second team
duck 1 2nd team
Most college coaches would bring in anyone no matter what if they got big game in them. I have seen it in NAIA also.

Re: Civil War-Beavs or ducks
Just a quick question for Beav. fans. What are the Ducks ranked? Nothing like 10th are they? And the Beavs are ranked?.....Thats what I thought. Gunna be alot of bowling in the Beavers future, but using the wrong kind of ball.
GO DUCKS.....Oh and my prediction.....Gunderson out in the first half Ducks by 28.
