Better watch out now Kitteys
After two very close run ins with cougers in the last three bow seasons I needed a sidearm. My full size taurus 9mm usually stays in camp because it weighs waaaay to much. When I saw this on gunbroker.com I couldn't resist.
It is a total titanium .357 mag and weighs a mere 17oz. I shot it tonight with .38 specials and it wasn't bad at all. With full house 158gr .357 mags recoil was a little sharp, but the ported barrel definetly helps. I added the laser grip for fun and night time functionality. Probally will never see another couger now, but at least I got a cool new toy.

No, really. Nice gun. I use my pistols to hunt with. They are all big. This is just the latest.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
Very nice indeed. Did you compare it at all to the Ruger SP101 .357? Also a short barel version that is easy and light to holster while out hunting "just in case". I do like the hammerles action as far as the safty of not getting it caught on clothing or out of the holster. Good to have with you none the less

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
Rainrshine it is not hamerrless. It just has the smooth back, and but the hammer can still be cocked for SA shooting. They call it a shrouded zero profile hammer. I didn't compare it to the ruger, I did compare to the S&W titaniums though. I love Taurus, and their prices can't be beat for a full lifetime warrenty gun.
Bait Bucket, now that is a hand cannon. What is the caliber? Have you seen the new Raging Bull's in 500 S&W? I need to make another Alaska trip so I have an excuse to buy one

A little sharp??? Good grief, I shot about 20 rounds of those things through my .357, same size and I felt like Mark McGuire had been doing batting practice on my wrist.

I have the 12 oz scandium .357 that S&W Makes. Ditto on the mark Maguire comment. Better than a cat on your back or your dogs back.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
I looked at your choice, and than looked at the Ruger SP101, and picked it up, heaver than yours, It go's with me almost 24/7, but what I like is you can plunk with 38's and if the need be, .357 will do a trick on just about anything we run into in the northwest.
Good stubby, good round, you well be protected.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
I'm curious what you paid for the grips and if they actually perform with any accuracy.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
FRB I got the gun and grips used off gunbroker.com. The guy I bought the gun from sold me grips for $150 extra. I think that they usually run about $200, or maybe a little more. They are extremly accurate. There is two set screws that allow you to sight the laser in. Mine was shooting about 2" high and a quick turn of the screw and it was dead on. You can see the laser for a long ways, like 100+yrds in the daylight and at least double that at night.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
Been thinking about getting them for an auto I have but don't shoot very well. Wasn't sure if they were adjustable.

Re: Better watch out now Kitteys
Crimson Trace are the folks who make these grips. I put a set on my Ruger MKII .22 and they ROCK! I like the fact that the laser's axis is very close to the barrel's. This makes it accurate no matter the distance. They are adjustable and seem to hold the adjustment OK. They are not visible in full daylight but are in overcast or cloudy conditions.
The grips are in the $200 range but shop around on eBay and or online for a better deal.
My Glock 17 has a M6 illuminator . This puppy IS visible in the daylight but is fairly bulky. It attaches to the accessory rail in front of the trigger guard. This is intended for police armed entry or home defense target identification. The Crimson trace is a better choice for carrying convenience and operational transparency
