and another opener!
well yet another opener.
The openers this year have just been great... drop Juinor at 8:15am sat... I almost past him up thinking it was just opening day and that daddy was around some where But Im a Duck hunter..hehe....dropped him like a rock..at 100 yards with all the snow he didnt even know I was there he was to busy eating some black moss off the tree branches... I did see Daddy 5 point the next morning same area when I went back to pack the other 1/4 out....go figure. Im glad I did though the snow got up to around 18 inches in the area we hunt and thats no fun walking threw that. But Juinor will be very tasty!
besides that bottel of Crown Royal was all that was on my mind after packing out most of him sat

Re: and another opener!
Thanks Guys, yep when your pushing snow with your front bumper on your truck its time to head out....we had to run our trucks up and down the road where we were camped at a few times a day so that we could get back down to the main road when we pulled out tuesday.

Re: and another opener!
Congrats on the tender meat! I hear ya on the snow. We had almost 3 feet of the white stuff by Sunday morning, and had to chain up just to get back to camp after the morning hunt. The powder was fine for getting around in, but it warmed up a little on Sat. night, and turned everything into grease. The whole unit was heading out. The snow falling out of the trees sat night sounded like howitzers hitting the tent, and trees were coming down in the wind...

you must have been just down the road or a few ridges over....chit ya that snow falling out of the trees on the tent was wild... I kept waitting for one to rip threw...didnt get much sleep that night... we pulled out yesterday morning with 3 empty tags... I would almost bet with the sun out yesterday and a clear night that today would be nothing but ice on top of the snow and ya cant sneak up on anything going crunch crunch
ehunter
I saw a 3 deer sat morning a nice forked horn and a few does and then ran into around ten elk and Junior was the only one with horns...and then the same area sunday morning same time going down to pack the rest of junior out there was daddy 5 point at least....but with no gun all ya can do is watch... I dont think it was the same herd but there sure where alot of tracks in that area on sat... I had told one of the guys that was with me that he should have hiked down with me but he was heading some where else....ooo well .... but other than that we didnt see squat

Re: and another opener!
Probably pretty close. Discretion was the better part of valor this season. My life insurance is paid up but I'm not quite ready to let anyone cash in yet....
