mckinzie unit late archery.

Anybody ever been in this unit for the late archery hunt for deer. If so are there very many deer in that unit. Just wondering because I have never been in that unit before. ny info I could get on the unit would be great. Thnks for your help,sturgeon1.

i have been hunting that unit for about 12 years now. early season this year was good, but no luck on my part (couldn't hit a thing). my brother was down there last week for the close of the rifle season and saw quite a few bucks and he, like me, couldn't hit a thing. traditionally during the rut we see quite a few deer up high at the snow level. it is a rugged area, so i always stayed up on the tops and found the areas that the does were in and would in turn see alot of bucks chasing them around. you need to have bad weather up there to get them to move during midday. when are you gonna be up there??? i was thinking about going up there during the late elk/deer season again this year if the weather is supposed to be nasty. let me know when you are gonna head up. Hello there BTS, I was thinking of going friday night, But I dont know the area as far as camping&huntn. Im not even sure where to start at.I will be archery huntn also. I was going to go to alsea unit but odfw thought it would be a good idea to have rifle&bow hunters in there at the same time and I didnt like that idea so I thought I would try another unit.

Hey there BTS, I didnt even go up there because they are having late muzzle loader hunt & youth doe hunt in that unit. I didnt feel like crawling around with rifle hunters in the same area.

Hey there again BTS Im heading for saddle mountain unit also this week-end for some late archery deer, is your hunt also for archery deer. Im not sure where Im going yet as I dont know that unit to well, I know the wilson unit better than the saddle mountain unit. It should be asey to tell where their headed with the snow up there.Sturgeon1.
