Default alsea late archery+ rifle elk =same time.

Why do they schedule a rifle hunt during a late archery hunt. I dont think this is a very safe dicission on odfw part. I dont think I would feel to safe out there with certain people walking around with loaded guns while were trying to archery hunt. Anybody else have any input on this.

Just always remember that the only one out there worried about your safety is you. Rifle and archery at the same time seems foolish to me. As foolish as it is I will be out there bow in hand, watching for the other guy as much as watching for the animals that we are after. As I said before the only one worried about you is you above all be careful have a fun and fruitful season. Look forward to all the pic's and stories to come.

I agree, it's completely stupid!!! One group wearing hunter orange, the other wearing full camo!! I won't be out in that myself, I'll wait until the rifle season is done.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">Same thing every year. I always hunt the cascade units until after rifle elk season. Not only is it less crowded, but safer. If your going out bowhunting during a rifle season, at least wear some orange. If you have to wear camo, make it camo-orange, you don't want to become a statistic.

Yes, same thing for Stott Mountain unit. The first year I hunted second season, we got the bright idea to hunt Stimson land , got to the gate at 0 dark thirty, by the time the gate opened there were 30 other rigs waiting to get in, only they all had rifles! We decided to hunt private property. I agree, if you have to be out, be sure and look out for the other guy. And be as visible as possible.

Good luck,
Scott
