Re: This ever happen to you?
That is a funny picture.....it reminds me of a story that my buddy told me of finding his brother asleep at his hunting stand..........he thought if your going to sleep you won't be needing your rifle. So he took his rifle and when on back to camp. His brother show up at camp with no rifle and was a little embarrassed

Yes, I woke up last year and shot the buck! I was just trying to be real still! Thankfully my snoring didn't scare it!

Re: This ever happen to you?
Been there done that , but I awoke to shrill scream, jumped up and behind me was a mommy bobcat and two kittens  Mommy took off like a rocket and the two kittens went up trees. Now that my heart rate was up, I figured I better go do some hiking . The kittens were awfull cute though ,every step i took they would scurry around to the opposite side of the tree and peek at me with there fuzzy little heads. Sorry to some of you but I only shoot what I will eat. Kitty is not my menu. In case anyone was wondering after reading a couple other posts here.

Re: This ever happen to you?
billc_sbio - LOL that scenerio almost happened to me years ago. Just got done doing my business in the thick stuff, pulling up my drawers with the wind swirling and a monster non-typical blacktail (about 6 or 7 points on each side) catches a whiff, stomps he feet, snorts and bounded away. I tried to get on him, but I was shooting a scoped shotgun shooting slugs and just couldn't get a shot off.

Re: This ever happen to you?
Yeah had something like that happen to me once .Late season battleground hunt,in my younger days I tended to stay out alittle late carousing ,any how I had an all nighter, and my brother comes to pick me up just before dawn,I think I slept most the way there.I then proceeded to head down into a canyon, and found a real comfortabe stump to sit on,no idea how long I was there before I dozed back off or how long I was out.Suddenly I am awaken to the sound of a 12ga . I came to and looked around, first thing I see is my brother about 50yrds away on the opposite side of the canyon pointing his shotgun in my general direction .First thought was he fired one off to wake me up and scare the he11 outa me ,just as I am about to go off on him ,I notice the big boddied spike laying about 10 yards away from my comfy stump the deer was checking me out when my brother shot it .

Perhaps he was about to deliver the "deer sausage" we all can't wait to pickup at the butcher shop.

Re: This ever happen to you?
I have had two turkey do that to a decoy of mine while I was sleeping. Both ended up on the dinner table though.
I always worry that is going to happen when I am fertilizing the forest. Since I alwys bring my weapon it has not happened yet.

Re: This ever happen to you?
Douglas Mitchell (author of the back page in Field and Stream for years and years) wrote once how he had taken his final buck after it plucked an apple off the front seat of his truck.
Thank you Douglas Mitchell, may you rest in peace.
(No, he wasn't hunting over a bated truck).
