Default Tuning a Goose Call

OK, first off I am just learning to honk and I really really suck at this juncture. I bought a haydel's black foot about a year ago - I really liked the sound of them. Out of the box it wasn't the easiest to get a good sound from.

Well, my kids got ahold of it and tore it apart. Now is even sounds worse than it did before. Not being able to call, I am struggling with putting it back together so I can at least get started learning again.

Any suggestions?

look on the reed and see if there is a line across it from where it was originally put together. if not, start with the reed out far and move the reed in very little each time till you have the sound that you like. let me know how that works. BTS

Something so simple
Did that and within 10 minutes of getting it where it would break I finally could get some good honks out of it. Thanks.
