I've mentioned that I have a cougar hunting video - El Gato - and would like to share it with the guys interested in the Ifish Cat Hunt. Several of you have already asked to be put on the loaner list, which is posted below.

The video is actually pretty well done, and I learned a lot from it. As I said before, it showed me that cat hunting with dogs is a formidable task, and hunting them without dogs is insane. In other words, it ought to be a lot of fun - but a supreme challenge. Take a look at the tape and see what you think.

BTW, the only two stipulations I have on the tape is (a) nobody copies it, and (b) I get it back by Thanksgiving so I can share it with my visiting family.

Okay, here's the list. I put BOE and Mello-Yello at the bottom because they're out of state on hunting trips. They're going to let us know when they get back.

I have been asking a lot of questions lately and still have some feelers out there hoping to get some quality info back. But I have come to the conclusion winter is the best time to hunt them.

1. their feed migrates downhill and bunches up and the cats would follow.
2. tracking in the snow is a whole lot easier than on dry ground.
3. I would think the cats will be hungrier due to lack of small animals underground that the cat may snack on between big meals. Making it more succeptible to coming to a distress call

anyway you cut it, it will be a nice break to the winter hunter doldrums and a quality ifish get together.

I am out of state ....not till tomorrow There is a big muley with my name on it. Gonna see if I can wade thru the little bucks to find the big one. Patience is the key. [img]graemlins/eek13.gif[/img] We will both be packing a camcorder this year to film our hunt, this is some of the best hunting country I have ever seen.

I bought it at Sportsman's Warehouse in Salem, and Cabela's also has it. It's fairly new, but my guess is it will start showing up at other hunting-video retailers.

As I said in another post, I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel and will be buried for a couple more weeks at least. Then it's CAT TIME! WhooooHoooo!
