Default Heading to Heppner for elk hunt tomorrow.

Should I bring the snow shovel ? Getting a little worried about the predicted snow amounts.

I would think that would be smart. Above 5,000 feet 12-20 inches of snow, did I hear that right? I think I would be hunting a little lower, especially with more snow on the way! I like the snow, but 20 inches would be a little much.

Brown animals, white snow, tracks...hmm sounds like a recipe for success if you can get there.

Definately bring all your vehicle recovery gear and 2 pairs of tire chains.

good luck

There not quite talking feet of snow and with the fluctuating snow levels its most likely going to be alternating snow and rain so it shouldnt pile up too bad, throw in all the gear just in case and remember chains and 4wd can either get you unstuck or stuck further!!! I will be heading to Chesnimnus of Friday it should be a fun week!!!

Yes, I got all the chains and 4x4. I'll have to wake up every so often and knock the snow off the roof of the tent. I'm hoping to keep the woodstove hot enough so the snow doesn't get to deep. I've been in snow before but not sure that much. Be a bummer to wake up with a face full on snowy tent !!!.

Snow + Elk Hunting = SUCCESS!

I wouldnt worry to much about the weather as long as you have 4x4 and decent tires. Other than that a little snow should make the trip all the more better!
