Default CR Tides and Ducks

OK, I'm going to be trying something new this year. I will be waterfowling at a few places on the lower CR - Below St. Helens a ways. I've seen a few posts discussing the effects of tides on the birds flying, roosting, feeding, etc. This is all greek to me

Might someone 'splain what all this is about and how to keep track of which tides are best to shoot?

Thanks,

ORS

i have always been told to hunt the incoming tide to high tide then start making your way out during the out going tide. i have hunted down in brownsmede and all i can say is don't get stranded out there during low tide. be careful and enjoy yourself.

ORS, anything in the L & C is tide effected. Low tide can catch you quick and then you are waiting the tide out. Here is what happens. The tide comes in. High tide floats the feed out of the marshes and the fields back in the islands. As the tide starts running out it causes the feed to stack up in certain places and tide rips this is a good area to target your birds as the feed is all stacked up. This is one of the things to look at. Also look back in the islands and find fields that the birds are using. scout them and then set up the next day. There are so many things to think about that makes you successful down there. Remember let people know where you are.

try and have a way to cummunicate out there and be ready to stay late if the tide catches you. Make sure you have enough boat to handle realy rough water it can come up fast. Be careful walking on the islands there are thousand of deep little revines to fall into. way too much to write here about. L & C is a different kind of hunting. I think as a rule it is slower than sauvies and more dangerous. Once you get it figured though you can have some good days.

i can vouch for those little hidden creeks...i found a good 3 foot deep one while walking on what appeared to be fairly dry weed covered ground.
