I have been a member for a while and have never attempted to post a picture. I printed Pete's tutorial and tried to follow it the best I can. It took me awhile to resize 279 kbs down to something in the specified range of 20-40 kbs. I think I have it at 27.7 kbs.
If it works:
This is my 8 year old grandson, Henry Valkenaar. His first introduction to fishing was a Kline Line pond in Vancouver. It was "combat fishing" with hundreds of other kids. I would not let him cast for safety reasons, so I did it and he managed to crank in a couple of trout.
Fishing trip number two is hopefully the picture I am attempting to post. We had hiked down into the Crooked River Canyon near Redmond, Oregon. He had some practice of casting in his backyard so this was an excellent opportunity to test his skill on the water. He struggled a little bit in going for accuracy instead of distance but he managed to land a half dozen trout which we released.
Trip three was for a URB on the Columbia. Henry gets a solid take down. I make him do everything; take the rod out of the holder, set the hook, pump & then wind, pump & then wind. After several verble attempts for "grampa, please take the rod" (I would not do it) we net and release a 25 lb Tule. Only got a partial picture of that one. After that battle Henry is hooked on fishing.
The last trip he sucessfuly landed a 18 lb URB. (dead battery in my wife's digital camera)
Henry has now fished four times in his life and has never been skunked. Now everytime I see him, he always asks: "Grampa, when are we going fishing?"
If this picture/post does not work, I will try it another day.
Carl
