Default Pheasant hunt

I am looking for a place to take my 15 year old son pheasant hunting where there is a good chance of success. Last Friday's Oregonian had several public lands listed near Pendleton(thanks Bill Monroe). I was planning on trying some of these locations the weekend of Nov 8. My problem is neither of my boys will chukar hunt with me anymore because all we do is hike all day and never get more than one or two birds . I would like to get my younger son into a fun day of hunting for quail, chukar or pheasants. Also my younger son and I have been training "his" Brittany and would like to get her into some birds. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Vancouver Lake buy a 3 day license and come over to Wa. It will still be cheaper than driving and lodging in Pendleton. And you can shoot Hens

Thank You No Wishing. I will look into Vancouver lake. Is there a lot of pressure since it is so close to portland?

With all due respect, there is NO comparison to hunting in Pendleton vs. Vancouver Lake.

Go buy your reservation bird permit at Gardners or Mission Market and hunt along the river on the res. Make sure you're not on private land. Stay at the hotel at the casino and get some tips from the employees there.

I think if you ask any bilologist, they'll tell you the foothills of the Blues from Pilot Rock to Milton-Freewater produced more birds than any other area in the state this year.

The Quail hunting is unreal, They are absolutely everywhere. We had great nesting conditions over here. Mild winter, lots of water.

Come on over, we'd love to have you chase some birds around.

Thank You very much to all that have replied. My goal is to get my son so addicted to hunting that he takes me when I get old. At his age (15) I don't want to lose his interest. He is working hard at training "his" Brittany. I know that if he sees his dog perform well he will get the bug. Thanks again
