Pup's First Hunt!
Here's a quick report from a trip last week to Juntura. I brought both my labradors (4 yof blk lab, 16 month old ylf). First day was slow, hunted my 4 yoa black lab with 3 Griffons. Only 2 coveys flushed. I made the mistake of not booting my dog and she had sore feet at the end of the day. Day 2 the 16 month old yellow lab female Kali came off the bench. I didn't know what to expect from her...4 coveys, 3 singles and 2 hen pheasants later....I was astounded! She made her first retrieves on chukar (4 total), 2 quail, quartered between myself and my partner (on her own with no corrections) and finally.....she flushed 1 bobcat and came out unscathed.....Anyways, great weekend even if the hunting was a bit slow. Can't wait to go again.
