Default Got a pair of duck calls

I got a pair of duck calls today, suzy q and a H.S. waterfowl single reed. Now i have to figure out how to sound like a healthy duck, not one with a cold. any help.

If you have never blown a duck call before, leave the calls in the truck when huinting. Leave em there. Quack on the way to work. Quack when picking the kids up from school. Quack when you are headed to the dentist.

Practice a lot.

Newbies tend to overblow, causing a squeal. If you are doung it right, 15 notes in a single breath is easy.

Whistles probably kill as many ducks for me as mallard calls. But they aint very fun to call with.

Being quiet is big too. Especially once they are in close late in the season.

There are a couple callers here qualified to give instruction. Contact them, and beg for a lesson.

if you can, come by the portland sportsmans warehouse this saturday (11/5) where there will be a class on duck hunting basics from 12-2pm. calling basics will be part of the class so bring your calls.
