Hunter Arrested For Assaulting OSP Trooper

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

SILVERTON, Ore. -- A hunter is under arrest after allegedly assaulting an Oregon State Police trooper over the weekend.
The trooper says he stopped a pickup truck Sunday afternoon near Silver Falls State Park. He suspected that the four people inside were trying to illegally hunt a deer from the truck.

According to police, 31-year-old Spiriano Guerreo-Villarreal (pictured) of Silverton got out and threw rocks and two partially full beer cans and kicked Trooper Craig Ball of the Fish and Wildlife Division.

Bell used pepper spray to get the man under control. Neither man was injured.

Guerreo-Villarreal was in the Marion County Jail facing charges of attempting to assault an officer, interfering with a police officer, menacing, harassment and resisting arrest.

The other three men were cited and released at the scene for unlawfully attempting to take a doe.

It shouldn't say "Hunter arrested..." it should say "Criminal arrested for assaulting OSP officer". Between this one and the idiot making a bad shot on a deer in someone's backyard, "hunters are looking more and more like the media makes us out to be! It would be nice if , just once, a reporter reported that "a man was accused of..." or "John Doe was guilty of...". Nope; it's always "HUNTER alleged to have...". For any media types that happen to read this (not too likely): "Hunters don't pull this crap! We know better. We treat our cherished resources with respect and reverence. We are NOT a drunken mob of freaks shootin' from the windows of our rusted out bondo and primer pickemup trucks at anything that moves. We are more disgusted by these maggots than you are. Get it right, then maybe we'll use your paper for something more than a catbox liner...

Just how drunk or stupid do you have to be to throw rocks and beer cans at a cop who's packin!
Reminds of of those "Stupid Criminal Ticks" you hear about every once in a while.

Thanks for the notice. I'm a media type...
The paper is also good for wrapping crabbait and it's an excellent insulator if you're traveling and want to keep something frozen for several hours.
Most people just burn or recycle it...

It actually was a pretty good chuckle...kind of like a baseball GM kicking dirt on an ump...still gets kicked out of the game.

I LIKE your stuff; you're fair and factual, which is all a reader can ask for. The box scores are fairly un-biased also. Oh yeah, that Richard Hill who writes science stories is decent. Seems to know his grammar, spelling, facts, etc...let's see, the GI Joe's ads are pretty good. I think that's about it. But seriously Bill, I don't consider you a "media type". Your articles are interesting, informative and accurate. Outdoorsman first and writer/reporter second is the way I see it. That makes your stuff better than the "media types". Thanks!
