I may be going out to fish for sturgeon with my friends on saturday. He has only gone one other time, and I have never gone. My question is, is the fishing any good right now? What are some good areas to fish, and what kind of baits are good right now??

You live in the right area, park at G Rogers Park fish the beach their or take the walking trail upriver all the way to just past the large cement building. The water is deep (130) in some spots so 6 to 8oz lead 4/0-6/0 hook and nightcrawler and sandshrimp combo work best. Their is a lots of rebar just past the building but it is also the best place to fish, so if you try their, reel fast and expect to retie a few times. good luck

I do live right there by George rogers park. I fish there frequently, I have tried that spot you are talking about and didnt catch athing. I guess I'm going to have to go try some more.
whats ya using for bait? and fish as high as you can get watch for the no tresspassing signs a little futher up. the railroad bridge has a nice hole. and just off the tip of the island across from Meldrum bar has a nice strech of 70ft water with some good shelfs
