Default Gun shots and the dog's hearing...

Hi all,
This is just a "concerned father" question. Does the loudness of gun shots not effect dogs hearing? I've just recently exposed my dog to gunshots, and we ended up shooting 5 or 6 boxes of 12ga. shells. Are they immune to these loud noises? Will he eventually lose his hearing over the years? And should I limit the amount of shooting when he is around?

Thanks for the info!

Default Re: Gun shots and the dog's hearing...

Just as in humans noises over a certin decabell level must cause some perminant damage.
The only thing I have had go wrong with my dogs is the ears.
I have raised Britts since i was 12 and have had two of my 7 go deaf,, or almost .
I have always wondered if it was the guns or the speakers in the truck or just old age .Probably a combination.. They both lost it about age 12 ... id. painter
