Re: Going over to the "other side"
Hey Yeti before you go spending 1k on a setup, check out the Ross 334. I was going to get a Switchback but then found this bow. They carry them at The Warehouse. You should shoot them all and go with what feels best. Good luck.

Re: Going over to the "other side"
Good call!!
But don't settle on the first or second bow that you shoot. Shoot lots of different models from lots of different makers(martin,bowtech,pse,darton,bear,hoyt,etc.). Don't look at the prices before you shoot them either you may find one that fits you like a glove that is either fairly cheap or all the way to the switchback price. There are lots good bows out there some are spendy and some are not so spendy. Do your homework then get the one that you feel the most comfortable with.
What ever you get you will have great time keep it fun at the begining and it will stay that way through the whole time you and your growing head out shooting.

Re: Going over to the "other side"
I shot five different bows from various mfgs today. Regardless of price I kept going back to the Mathews. It was the smoothest of the bows I shot.
I have put this off for a long time due to joint problems. I hope this old body will put up with the new sport.

Re: Going over to the "other side"
You might wait a little bit. Hoyt's new trykon bow that is coming out in november sounds like it might be better than that switchback.
I don't know what all you shot, but when shooting bows make sure they are all set up the same. Shooting a switchback set at 62lbs is going to feel a lot smoother than another bow set at 70lbs.
If you do go with the mathews I'd get new strings for it. That is the one thing that can't get right. I'm sure some guys have had good luck with them, but they probably don't shoot much. With the suppressors you'll have to keep that bow in spec or you'll have trouble. With poor strings that stretch you'll have to re tune the bow and it will drive you nuts. A good string like vapor trail or winners choice won't stretch. You won't have any peep issues either.
By the way welcome aboard the sliver train.

Re: Going over to the "other side"
I shot Hoyt, PSE, Mathews and another I can't remeber the name. To tell the truth you are splitting hairs picking a bow at this level. The two things I focused on while testing were the grip shape/feel and the reaction (feeling) of the bow after the release. They all felt great and any of them would have worked. The Mathews felt best in my hands so that is the one I went with.
I look forward to learning all of the new tricks of the trade. Too cool!

Re: Going over to the "other side"
You won't be disappointed with that mathews. I personnaly shoot a bowtech allegiance and love it. It is darn near as smooth as the switchback on the shot, but about 13fps faster. I like the wall better as well. Both are great bows and are on top of the game right now. The new hoyt sounds good, but I guess I'd have to be blown away to put down my allegiance.
Don't forget if you were to go bowtech you'd be supporting an Oregon made product.
I'm sure you already know what is going on your bow, but if not I'd look at a trophy taker rest and a spot hogg sight. Both are bulletproof.
