Reeeediculous.

Lemme see.

Kill an animal in it's natural environment where it's lived a long an fulfilling life. Then process that animal carefully, feeding your family with it's meat and using that animal for every available resource all the while appreciating and respecting that animal.

OR....

go to Safeway and buy a dozen eggs, of which Safeway buys the cheapest eggs on the market. Those hens that live in the dairy are crammed into cages so tight that they can't fully extend there wings.

Hmmmmm.....who's really being disrespectful here. C'mon PETA...Quit wasting your breath on respectful sport fishers and concentrate on bigger things.

I guess they missed their window of opportunity with my 6 yr old, she caught the most and the biggest yesterday, she does like to kiss the shakers but then she has been known to poke an eyeball or 2 before the keepers are cleaned!!

Assuming some nerd figure-head is sitting at his biodeisel powered computer and refreshing the sites counter is just a tiny bit naive isnt it? "Check one for the support column Rusty"

Thinking that this comic book "campaign's" target demographic is children? well, that might be a bit of "fluff" in the Peta butter sammich some people are choke'n on too.

Wake up! They are not speaking to children with these comic books any more than they are speaking to all the overprotective moms out there. Encouraging them to push the "is it really humane enough for our kids to do" buttons of thier hunting and fishing husbands.

Comic books attract the attention of children too young to fully comprehend the idea that the meat they eat may have had a rough life and traumatic death before they chowed it down. Why would a kid who is old enough to comprehend it CARE these days anyway? (Sit and watch the video games they are playing and tell me they might have some adverse reaction to "A graphic tale of two cheeseburgers: From the pasture to your table"...
Uhh, doubt it!)

Heck my kid would beat the steer manure out of anyone who even LOOKS at his double bacon swiss black-forest ham-burger. Who gives a crapola what some smelly cow experienced on its way to fire lake (or "crisco slough")? Think about it, kids these days dont have much of a conscience. And they seem to go from having one to not having one almost over night. I'd say theres quite a narrow margin of children PETA might get through to with this comic book. So much so that it leads me to think PETA is likely just finding silly ways to show some sort of use of donated funds while entertaining themsleves at the same time.

Ok, So I am assuming something here. Its not to say that PETA's intent is to lure the tender children into taking an interest (albeit brief) in a colorful, graphic, "made for kids" comic book... and have mommy snatch it away from them, screen it late at night when the kids are in bed... and you're sharpening your hooks. But that wouldnt be too far-fetched would it? If the comic book actually did have what everyone thinks is PETA's desired effect, mommy is sure gonna wanna know why little sister has a tear in her eye, and be sure it doesnt happen again right? Whats the best way to ensure it doesnt?
Shes gonna keep the kids at home next time you go out to barbaricly, ruthlessly and savagely kill the incredibly sensitve Mr fish! Maybe not right away, but the seed has been planted.

I dont belive children are the target, just the means of delivering the messege. I honestly think its the mothers of the sweet little innocent kids who are targets.
So a kid sees the comic book, asks questions and becomes a little concerned, or even saddened to think that the fish dad brings home have all experienced the same pain and trauma a little innocent person would if hooked in the mouth and dragged dozens of yards against their will. I doubt any kid out there is gonna order the garden burger next time they are rubbernecking the menu at the nearest crusty-burger drive-through.
Uhh, whats mommy gonna do? Probobly not take the side of PETA, or even make reference to the comic book...but you can bet your last pack of 4/0 cutting points she is going to ask your child 387 times if they are "ShhhhhhURE" they want to go fishing with daddy.

PETA isnt trying to wake your kids up to the supposed hell fish go through when you hook and kill them...PETA is using your wife (who isnt the least bit interested in spending yet another weekend home alone) as a wedge between your kids and you.

Maybe PETA realized adults are too damn smart to change thier carnivorous ways...so they are aiming at the mommies of our children hoping they will swing the kids away from the neandertal lifestyle us hunters and gatherers lead. And in doing so, live up to the ultra socially responsible concerned soccer mom title they all want the neighbors to know them for.

Do PETA people eat animal crackers?

Hmmmm?

If you carefully track the behind the scenes activity of PETA you will find that they funnel money to ALF (Aninal Liberation Front). ALF is an associate of ELF (earth liberation front) both of which are listed among the top domestic terrorist organizations in the United States. ELF is right up there at the top. Bottom line, PETA funnels money to terrorists. Don't visit their site, don't support their actions. Don't flame me for this info, research it, you'll find it accurate.
