Re: Yellowtail pics
WOOOW!!! Nice brutes. Now I have a craving for YT shashimi.
Since it is so rare to catch both on the same day. I have to ask.
Pound for pound, which is the better fighter. Albie or yellowtail?
My pick is yellowtail. Just want to see if this matches your exsperience.

Re: Yellowtail pics
Very tasty fish as we just had it, oysters and Alaskan shrimp that was brought down by a friend yesterday.
How would you feel if I told you the dog loved the Yellowtail as well??

Re: Yellowtail pics
Way cool. What did you catch them on? Do you know what the water temp. was? Two years in a row about the same time of year? Sounds interesting in that there hasn't been an El Nino. Wouldn't it be amazing if they started to establish themselves but would think the water temp. in the winter would push them south.

Re: Yellowtail pics
Muchas gracias amigos!
The two we caught last year on the Sweet Louise were similar in that we trolled jigs past a bunch of kelp...but that was August 8, 2004...not late October!
The last thank you goes to the guys that we ran with all summer...made some incredible new friends and I look forward to running with you guys next year!
The Salty Dogs are one hell of a good bunch of guys & gals...proud to be apart of it!

Re: Yellowtail pics
Yellowtail is a better fight...more than just a tuna nose dive...the first one came up to the surface and raced across the top of the water.
They seem to pull harder too.

Re: Yellowtail pics
Absolutely. Pound for pound yt fight way harder than an albacore. They also know how to use the bottom or kelp paddy to cut you off. While I prefer to eat tuna over yt fight wise, I'll take the yt. Can give you a lot of heart break though.

Re: Yellowtail pics
I am heading to the Big Island next month and was hoping to go out and fish for those. That was until I found out that in Hawaii the fish you catch belongs to the boat Captain. That changed my mind totally. But if they have them here, sign me up! I love Yellow Tail!

Re: Yellowtail pics
I don't think yellowtails are available in HI. Since you're going to be at the big island, go very early like 5am to see the fish auction in Hilo. aloha.
