But the story is just that, a story.

Actually the guy was a serviceman from Eielson AFB near Fairbanks and shot it on a regular hunt. If I remember correctly it made the record book, but just barely.

But the story as linked sure makes a better read.

Jeesh I'm not sure what I'd do if something that big came after me. Probaly do my best Carl Lewis impression and get out of dodge!

Or toss an arrow at it for good measure, then do the Carl Lewis thing

This is exactly why one should never hunt Brown Bear country alone. You should always bring along a hunting partner....one that is slower than you.

When you sit down to put on your tennie runners, just make sure your buddy knows your intention is not to outrun the bear.

(You just need to outrun your buddy )

Skein-Thanks for the other side of the story. But it would almost be worth a trip to anchorage just to see the mount

This has been floating around for a while. It is out in the internet eddie and eventually floats back around to everyone. I enjoy it each time it comes by.

There is a comprehensive write up on snopes (but there is a very graphic and explicit image on that page so I did not provide a link).

How fast can you unload a bow.
Maybe run and shoot at the same time.
