i blew it !!

went out today with my little brother who just recently started to hunt. saw alot of deer and in the honey hole saw a buck at 100 yards i saw a rack but could not tell if it was forked. i told my brother to get above the buck to get a better look so he did. after 15 minutes of a stare down he turned his head and he was a little 3 pt. not what i was looking for but it would be a great first buck for my brother i sat for another 5 minutes waiting for a shot low and be hold here comes my brother back down to me as the buck runs off why didn't you shoot i asked? he said you told me not too!! what i ment to say was make sure it is a fork or better. i really wish i was packing out his first buck with him. man it would have been a great first buck.

Ah yes. But isn't this sort of story so much better than the one's that start out "We hunted for two days and saw nothing but timber tigers". Too many times over the years I've been quoted as saying "sheesh, I wish I'd get a chance to miss a shot!". :grin:
