Default Washdown pumps and saltwater

I just took my new(to me) super vee in the salt for the first time yesterday. I was concerned about using the washdown and spraying saltwater inside the boat. There was so much crab gunk on the bottom though that I had too...but just a little. I rinsed the heck out of it when I got home but I started thinking about the inside of the washdown pump, etc. How do you guys handle this in the saltwater? Do you avoid using the washdown? I guess I'm paraniod about corrosion but then again that's what will keep my boat safe from corrosion too. Thoughts?

I have used mine for 4 years now in the salt with no problems. I am assumming the the inside of the pumb where the impeller is located was made out of plastic.

I always run the washdown and bilge when I run the motors in a lake to clear all the salt out. It is also good to put the plug in and spray as much water as possible in the boat to clear any salt and the rest drain after it mixes with the salt under the floorboards.
